Obama back in New York to tour 1 World Trade Center on Thursday, June 14

President Barack Obama is due back in New York this Thursday, June 14.

POTUS has plans to visit the under-construction One World Trade Center that day. He will meet with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, where he will be given a tour of the site and given a briefing on the construction process.

His visit will be a preview of 1 WTC’s topping-off ceremony. The building’s main framework is nearly completed and a topping-off ceremony is tentatively scheduled to happen by the end of June.

In April, One World Trade Center surpassed the Empire State Building as the tallest building in New York City. At 1,776 feet from the sidewalk to the top of its antenna, it will be the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere once it is completed.

Later Thursday night, Obama is scheduled to attend a fundraising dinner hosted by Sarah Jessica Parker at her West Village townhouse. The First Lady will also be at the dinner, which is entitled “A New York Night.”
