Jim Margolis, the man behind President Obama’s campaign ads in both 2008 and 2012, volunteered to produce the video announcement that Anthony Weiner was running for mayor, the Daily News reports.
The two are old friends. Margolis has worked for Weiner before, handling his ads in 2005 when Weiner launched his first mayoral campaign.
Despite Margolis’s role in creating the launch video, he will not be joining the campaign in an official capacity, Weiner told Capital New York. The media strategist is already committed to producing the ads for Democrat Scott Stringer’s city comptroller campaign.
