A Philadelphia man was today sentenced to 15 to 40 years in prison for killing his infant son, Christopher, by putting heroin in his bottle before he slept, the district attorney's office announced.
Orlando Rosado, 46, had been found guilty of third-degree murder in July.
Officials said Rosado last year fed his son a bottle containing methadone, heroin and formula before putting his son to bed. The next morning, the infant died of drug intoxication. It was two days before his first birthday.
Rosado claimed he was high himself at the time and did not put the drugs into the bottle intentionally, according to the district attorney's office.
The Honorable Barbara McDermott sentenced Rosado. ADA Lorraine Donnelly successfully prosecuted the case.
