Tom Corbett is America's highest-paid governor, a California panel has determined.
Corbett's $183,255 salary as Pennsylvania's top elected official put him at No. 1 on the list of governors' salaries for 2012, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The California Citizens Compensation Commission survey also found Pennsylvania's legislators drew the second-highest base salary ($82,026) in the nation last year. California lawmakers by far had the highest base salary ($95,291).
The California commission called for the survey to help it determine whether to grant pay raises to Gov. Jerry Brown and other state officials. Brown was the seventh highest-paid governor in 2012, with a salary of $173,000.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie earned a $175,000 salary in 2012.
