In an odd twist, the group that took the hardest stance against the Philadelphia Eagles for their signing of quarterback Michael Vick two years ago is now heaping praise on the organization for its vegetarian fare offered at games.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals named Lincoln Financial Field the “Most Vegetarian-Friendly Stadium” in the country — the same stadium the group held protests outside when Vick signed.
“It’s apples and oranges, not to make a vegetarian cliche,” PETA’s Dan Shannon said. “People feel what they feel about Michael Vick, but we’re not going to hold that against the stadium and its food.”
The stadium ranked third last year in PETA’s ratings, but took top prize in 2010 because they’ve added to their selection.
Options include mock-steak and faux-chicken sandwiches.
