Ling met and interviewed anti-gun violence activists, such as members of the Gun Crisis Reporting Project, Mothers in Charge and Philadelphia Ceasefire, and spotlighted the group's strategies for curbing the city's rampant violence.

Jim MacMillan, a Pultizer-Prize winning photojournalist and co-founder of the Gun Crisis Project, wrote on the non-profits's website that his group started collaborating with Ling's documentary team about 16 months ago.

"We strive to dissuade them from adopting pejorative monikers such as Killadelphia or the Badlands — but we offer them every opportunity to engage the courageous groups and individuals working hard every day to stem gun violence in our city."
