A Philadelphia police officer shot a suspect who allegedly went for the cop's gun during a drug bust in Parkside early Thursday.
The shooting happened about 12:30 a.m., 6ABC Action News reported. Police chased after the 23-year-old suspect after he took part in a suspected drug deal on the 600 block of North 52nd Street.
One police officer tracked the suspect to a backyard on the 600 block of North Creighton Street, where police say a violent struggle ensued, during which the suspect tried to grab the cop's holstered gun. The officer fired one shot into the suspect's torso.
The suspect was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in critical condition.
Police reportedly confiscated eight bags of suspected crack cocaine during the investigation.
