Philadelphia police shot an armed suspect in North Philadelphia Thursday night -- the third time police used deadly force in two nights.
The police-involved shooting happened about 9:45 p.m., 6ABC Action News reports, after police officers reportedly heard gunfire coming from 24th Street. While rushing toward the gunfire, police encountered the suspect on the 2300 block of Oxford Street and ordered him to drop the gun.
Police shot the man when he refused to drop the gun. He was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital, and was in stable condition.
Police told Action News the gun was cocked and ready to be fired.
There were two fatal police-involved shootings in Philadelphia Wednesday night.
