A teen accused of raping and murdering his Danvers High School teacher was indicted for allegedly trying to kill a female Department of Youth Services worker while in custody.
Philip Chism, 15, of Danvers, was indicted by a grand jury on charges ofattempted murder by strangulation, assault with intent to murder, kidnapping and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, the Suffolk district attorney’s office said Wednesday.
Chism allegedly followed the 29-year-old female staffer at theMetro Youth Services facility in Dorchester into the bathroom last month and assaulted her, the district attorney’s office said. Co-workers heard the woman’s cries and helped her.
Chism was indicted as a youthful offender, meaning his case is open to the public and he faces penalties that an adult would face.
