The new Downtown Crossing Walgreens megastore is set to open Wednesday with amenities not found in typical pharmacies and drugstores.
Company officials led a special preview of the store Tuesday for the media.
The new store, which replaces the closed Borders bookstore, is 24,745 square feet and will be open 24 hours. Its features include a juice and smoothie bar, hand-rolled sushi, an outdoor cafe, a self-serve frozen yogurt bar and a large alcohol selection.
Keeping to its roots, the store will have a pharmacy that it calls "enhanced" and "state-of-the-art" to encourage greater interaction between pharmacists and customers.
