A Salem fisherman snagged a lobster that came out of the water in a fitting Halloween costume – an orange and black shell.

On Sunday, Dana Duhaime discovered the one pound female lobster in one of his traps in Bakers Channel off the Beverly coast.

While the timing of the creepy catch seems fitting, New England Aquarium biologists said that orange and black is the most common color combination in lobster “splits,” which feature two distinct colors on each side.

They are estimated to show up once in every 50 to 100 million lobsters.

Officials at the New England Aquarium showed off the lobster on Wednesday.
