In pursuit of an alleged shooter in North Philadelphia police shot a pit bull.
Around 11 a.m. Thursday a 27-year-old man was shot in the forearm on the 400 block of Diamond Street, said Officer Christine O'Brien, a police spokeswoman.
Police chased the suspect into a lot on the 1900 block of North 7th Street when a pit bull rushed at the officers. One cop fired and hit the dog in its torso, police said.
The suspect escaped, but the victim was taken to Temple University hospital where he is currently in stable condition.
The condition of the dog is not yet known.
