Police in Mercer County, N.J., are investigating the discovery of two young boys who apparently were living in a storage unit.
The boys, between the ages of 5 and 10, were found to be living in a unit at Extra Storage in Ewing on Thursday morning, 6ABC reports.
The storage unit does not have heat or electricity. The children, now in the custody of the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services, reportedly did not appear injured or malnourished.
Authorities found the boys after their mother was arrested for violating a restraining order in a domestic violence case, accused of slashing the tires to her boyfriend's vehicle. She indicated during questioning that her children were at the storage facility waiting for a school bus.
It is not clear how long the boys had been living in the storage unit or if they were living there alone.
