A Philadelphia police officer shot a robbery suspect in the leg in West Philadelphia after police say the man fired his gun at the officer at close range.
The incident happened around midnight Thursday into Friday on the 900 block of South 57th Street, 6ABC Action News reports.
The officer tried to stop the man due to his fitting the description of a robbery suspect, police say. The man, who is in police custody at an area hospital, allegedly took out a gun and fired it at the officer several times.
The officer was not injured.
