Police have identified the suspect who allegedly attacked a 33-year-old woman in Fort Tryon Park last week while she was pushing her 8-month-old in a stroller.

Policy say Oscar Ruiz, 35, approached the woman on a bike path near the Henry Hudson Parkway at around 9 a.m. on Sept. 27. He allegedly called out to the victim from behind, emerged from a wooded area and then walked toward her with a broken bottle in his hand.

The victim struggled with the suspect and they both fell to the ground. The woman was able to fight off her attacker by hitting him in the head with a bicycle pump, causing a laceration, police said.

Police released a photo of Ruiz on Thursday. He is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5-foot-9 and 160 lbs.
