Police are searching for a suspect in Salem County this morning after a police officer shot a second man in the face during a traffic stop early Wednesday.

Police are searching for a suspect in Salem County on Wednesday morning after a Carneys Point police officer shot a second man in the face during a traffic stop early Wednesday.

The officer-involved shooting occurred about 1 a.m. near South Pennsville Auburn Road and Hollywood Avenue, NBC10 reports.

A man was shot in the face during the traffic stop, according to the report. He was taken to Cooper University Hospital. There has been no update on his condition.

It was during the traffic stop that the suspect bailed from the car, sparking an extensive manhunt that continued into daylight.

Police blocked off a mile-long stretch of Pennsville Auburn Road as much as six hours after the officer-involved shooting while they searched for the suspect.

Police know who the suspect is, according to the report, but were not releasing his name to media as the manhunt continued.
