Police: Man points laser at helicopter, blinds pilot

The laser hit the helicopter pilot's eyes, causing both pain and temporary blindness, police said.

For the second time in less than a week, Philadelphia police have arrested someone for pointing a green laser at a police helicopter.

This time, the laser hit the helicopter pilot's eyes, causing both pain and temporary blindness, police said. The latest incident of a laser being used on a police helicopter happened about 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Police tracked the laser to the area of Cayuga and Malta streets, in Juniata Park. Police arrested Jose Feliciano, 19, of the 5900 block of Roosevelt Boulevard, on the4300 block of Malta Street for the crime.

Police say Feliciano was in possession of the laser pointer. He has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault on police, as well as causing or risking catastrophe, possessing an instrument of crime, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault and harassment.

A 20-year-old Montour Street man was arrested Sunday night after allegedly pointing a green laser at a helicopter that was assisting on an investigation in Olney.
