Officers responded to calls of shots fired just after 9 p.m. time in the area of West 82nd Street and Amsterdam Avenue, police said. A 31-year-old woman was found shot in the ankle, and a 42-year-old man was found shot in the calf. Both were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Zambrano was arrested on charges of criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment and assault, police said.His next appearance in Manhattan District Court is set for Sept. 18, records show.

Numerous media accounts from the scene state Zambrano had been drinking with the victims.
