Police are searching for an alleged serial rapist who is among the Massachusetts State Police’s most wanted fugitives.

Gregory J. Lewis, 26, has already been charged with the sexual assault of a Southbridge girl and is wanted in connection with a spree of other sexual assaults, kidnappings and armed robberies in multiple states across the country.

State Police Lewis may be driving eastward from the Midwest. Lewis, who is thought to be connected to to at least six sexual assaults around the country since he fled Massachusetts in September, was spotted in Columbus, Ohio yesterday evening and was also recently spotted in the area of Indianapolis, Indiana. Before that, authorities think Lewis was in Denver, Colorado in early October. Later in the month, police think he was around Portland, Oregon, Boise, Idaho and Salt Lake City Utah.

Several of his victims, according to the Massachusetts State Police, were female “escorts” whom he had arranged to meet at local hotels. Such victims were cuffed, threatened with a gun, robbed and sexually assaulted.

Police think Lewis is driving a dark blue 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee that features fog lights in the front, alloy wheel rims and it may have a sticker on the center of the rear bumper below the license plate.

Police are uncertain about the types of plates on the car; there were stolen Idaho plates affixed to the Jeep, but Lewis may have removed them.
