Authorities responding to a fire in Brooklyn on Sunday discovered a man who had been shot to death and another man with multiple gunshot wounds.

Police responded to the fire call, at 885 Gates Ave. at the Stuyvesant Gardens Houses, about 4:30 p.m. They found Qasim Mitchell, 24, with a gunshot wound to his head inside the first floor apartment.

Mitchell was taken to Woodhull Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A second victim, a 38-year-old man whose name has not been released, was found in the rear courtyard of the building with gunshot wounds to his shoulder and torso, police said. He was transported to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.

It is not clear how the fire started. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
