Police seek 14-year-old escapee from Wilmington detention center

Delaware State Police are looking for a 14-year-old who escaped Friday night from a detention center in Wilmington.

Investigators said Daymere Wisher, 14, of New Castle, was outside in the recreation yard of Snowden Cottage, located at 963 Centre Rd., when he around 5:15 p.m. walked off the property and disappeared in the area of Faulkland Road.

According to the website of the state Department of Services for Children, Youth and their Families, Snowden Cottage is a 15-bed residential treatment and transitional housing facility for adjudicated male adolescents, with a 90-day minimum length of stay.

Troopers searched the area of the detention center but were unable to locate Wisher.

He is described as a 4-foot-11-inch tall black male of about 70 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
