Stealing a tablet took three seconds for a bodega customer who recently committed what was apparently a crime of opportunity.

Police released surveillance footage today of an Oct. 2 incident in which a forgetful bodega customer left his Verizon tablet computer sitting on top of the ice-cream case in a bodega, where it was quickly snatched by the next customer in line.

The victim, 29, was in the bodega on the 3400 block of G Street around 11:15 a.m. Oct. 2 when, apparently absorbed in conversation, he forgot his tablet, worth $550, on top of the bodega's frozen goods case.
