Pregnancy center mandate

CITY HALL – The City Council passed controversial legislation yesterday that would require crisis pregnancy centers to state on their exterior and in ads that they don’t provide abortions, contraceptives or medical staff. Critics say the bill would limit free speech, but supporters argue the centers deceptively recruit pregnant women and don’t disclose that they don’t offer them abortions. The bill now goes to Mayor Bloomberg.
