A Princeton University student was crowned Miss New Jersey Saturday night in Ocean City, reports say.

Competing as Miss Island Resort, Cara McCollum, 20, beat out 22 other lovely ladies to earn the title. She won an $11,000 scholarship and a spot in the Miss America pageant in Atlantic City on Sept. 15.

McCollum, an Arkansas native, said she will advocate for youth literacy.
