A Quincy homeowner who rented out his spare rooms to foreign travelers through Airbnb was fined yet again by city officials for allegedly running an illegal bed and breakfast.

Richard Cope, who owns an ocean-side home on Bayside Road in Quincy, was fined $1,000 by city officials who showed up at the home on Friday morning, according to The Patriot Ledger.

City officials said they had complaints from neighbors and that it was the second fine issued to Cope. He was fined earlier last month. City officials said he has violated zoning and building codes.

The popular website Airbnb lets residents rent out spare beds, rooms or their homes to people who make reservations online.

In an email to the Patriot Ledger, Cope said he and his fiancee are renting out the home to a family from the Netherlands. He said he and his fiancee use the website to invite international travelers to stay with them.
