A Quincy Police captain is due in court today for allegedly assaulting his pregnant wife over the holiday weekend.
Captain Michael J. Miller, 49, of Quincy, was arrested by Plymouth Police Saturday following an argument with his estranged wife. A restraining order had been issued against Miller on Friday.
He faces charges of assault and battery.
Miller is a 27-year veteran of the Quincy Police Department, according to Quincy Police Captain John Dougan.
The alleged assault happened at his wife’s home in Plymouth, according to reports.
The couple is separated, but shares a child. Miller reportedly drove to the home to pick up the child before the argument happened.
He was freed on personal recognizance following his arrest.
Dougan said Miller has been put on paid administrative leave until the case is resolved, and his gun license has been temporarily suspended.
When asked when Miller would return to work, Dougan said it depends on the court proceedings.
"I don't yet know what happened today in (Plymouth District) court," Dougan said."
