The heavy rain that started falling on Saturday and continued overnight has causing flooding in various areas of the state, washing out some roadways.

State and local police have closed parts of some roads because they have been flooded.

The right lane of Memorial Drive in Cambridge under the Longfellow Bridge was closed because of standing water. State police said drivers should expect delays.

In Waltham, Wyman Street was shut down from Lincoln Street to the Interstate 95 off-ramp because part of the roadway had been washed out. Police said drivers should seek an alternate route.

In Fall River, a nearby stream flooded and caused the closure of the ramp from Route 24 southbound to Interstate 195 westbound.

Because of high winds and heavy rain, a radio tower in North Adams collapsed. The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency said that the tower collapse resulted in a communications failure and that cell phone and Internet service were down. MEMA advised people in the North Adams area to use a landline if they have an emergency.
