A radio ad campaign is invoking famed Queens punk rock band the Ramones to entice beachgoers back out to the Rockaways this summer to infuse some tourism dollars into a local economy shattered by Hurricane Sandy.
After all, it’s not hard, not far to reach.
The siren song in question is “Rockaway Beach,” off the band’s 1977 album Rocket to Russia.
The radio ads by theQueens Economic Development Corporationwill run Fridays and Saturdays on WFAN, WINS and WCBS.
