The Boston Red Sox released a statement Monday regarding an apparent suicide on owner John Henry’s private yacht docked at 30 Rowes Wharf in Boston.

The statement read:

“Earlier today, a crew member on the vessel, M/Y Iroquois, apparently took his life aboard the vessel docked at 30 Rowes Wharf (behind the Boston Harbor Hotel). Mr. Henry and the members of the Boston Red Sox are saddened by the news and send deepest condolences to his family.

Apparently only crew members were on board the vessel when the incident occurred.”

The victim is reportedly a man, 28-to-30 years old.

Henry has hosted team events on the yacht in the past, including one event in the summer of 2011. Several Red Sox players that season were reportedly disgruntled having to play a day-night doubleheader with Hurricane Irene approaching. In response, Henry hosted a players-only party on the yacht and gave each player $300 headphones.
