Silda Spitzer is planning to divorce city comptroller candidate Eliot Spitzer after the election in November, The New York Post reports.
Eliot admitted Thursday night that his wife would not be joining him on the campaign trail, and sources tell the Post that she plans to file for divorce after the Nov. 5 election.
According to two sources, Silda has told her friends that she has had enough and will divorce her husband, the Post reports.
The Post’s Page Six reported in May that the two were not living together, with Eliot staying at 800 Fifth Ave. and Silda living at the couple’s home at 985 Fifth Ave.
The former governor said on Thursday that Silda would not be by his side on the campaign trail.
“I think it’s fair to say I’m running for office. No other member of my family is running for office,” he said. “And I think the public is going to judge me, not who else is with me or not with me. She’s got a career. There are other things I think the public appreciates — I’m out here fighting every day for them.”
A spokeswoman for Eliot said in response to the divorce rumors on Thursday, “Eliot is running for comptroller on his record and the issues. We will not comment on the absurd barrage of stories about his personal life.”
