Reward for arrest in police shooting

The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5 and U.S. Marshals Service are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a West Kensington man who allegedly shot Officer Kevin Gorman early Friday in North Philadelphia.

An arrest warrant was issued for Nasuil “Nas” Martinez, 20, of the 2800 block of Lee Street, after he allegedly shot Gorman with a .45 caliber weapon during a foot chase near Hope and Howard streets. Martinez fled from Gorman and his partner when they saw a car speeding the wrong way along Allegheny Ave. The three people who stayed in the car after Martinez ran were not charged.

“If he’s brought in today, you’re paid today,” said FOP President John McNesby, since the reward is based solely on an arrest.

Gorman was treated and released by Temple University Hospital.

Martinez is reportedly 5-foot-8-inch, 140 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He has a tattoo on the right side of his neck of “CHELY” written in cursive.

Anyone with information is asked to call the U.S. Marshals Service at (866) 865-8477.
