Robbers beat supermarket owner with skateboard

These four suspects are wanted in a Lower East Side robbery.

A Lower East Side supermarket owner who confronted four shoplifters was beaten with a skateboard last week, police said.

Cops are searching for the four men who entered Eastern Supermarket on Grand Street about 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The suspects removed merchandise and tried to leave without paying, police said.

When the store owner, 50, approached the victims, he was struck in the face with a skateboard. He was treated at NY Downtown Hospital for his injuries.

Police have released surveillance photos of the suspects.
