Authorities mounted a desperate search and rescue operation Monday afternoon after two boys, aged 11 and 13, became stranded in the Pennypack Creek in Rhawnhurst.
Investigators said the children shortly before 1:45 p.m. jumped into the water near Winchester Avenue and were quickly overwhelmed by the current.
The 11-year-old was rescued and taken to Saint Christopher's Hospital for Children for observation.
The 13-year-old boy was not found Monday.
The search, which was called off around 5 p.m. because the water was too rough for divers, is set to resume Tuesday.
