Search continues for missing autistic boy in Queens

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a 14-year-old autistic boy who went missing in Queens last Friday.

Avonte Oquendo, of Rego Park, was last seen leaving Center Boulevard School in Long Island City about 12:40 p.m. on Oct. 4, police said. He is seen on surveillance video running from the school.

Oquendo’s family has been pleading for the public’s help in finding their son, who is unable to communicate verbally.

He was last seen wearing a gray striped shirt, black jeans and black sneakers. He is 5-foot-3 and about 125 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES) then entering TIP577.
