SEPTA officials will hold a "Safety Blitz" this afternoon at AT&T station to promote safety awareness.
From 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. today SEPTA representatives will hang at the last stop on the soutbound Broad Street Line at Broad Street and Pattison Avenue to alert riders to the dangers of illegally entering the subway area.
"The AT&T Station Safety Blitz is the latest in a series of events designed to teach customers how to stay safe at stations, on platforms and other areas where SEPTA trains operate," according to a news release. "This event will focus on the dangers of trespassing on the subway tracks."
The awareness campaign comes as SEPTA has seen an increase in train-related deaths - both intentional and non-intentional - in 2013 compared with prior years.
