A severed leg was found in a pond in Fort Totten Park in Queens Monday afternoon, police reported.
Police deployed to the park around 4:37 p.m. after receiving reports of a body part found in Little Neck Bay near Duane and Underhill roads.
Responding patrol officers found what they said appeared to be a severed human leg with duct tape attached to it.
A search by other officers and the NYPD Harbor Unit along the shoreline turned up no other body parts.
The Medical Examiner's Office will attempt to trace the origin of the leg while the NYPD continues their investigation.
