A sexting scandal involving 24 students from Wrentham’s King Philip Regional School District is currently under investigation by police.

One photo, featuring a girl from a different town, was initially meant for one receiver — but it was sent to middle and high school students. How the photo became widely distributed, or whether those involved understood the consequences of their actions, is still unknown.

“For reasons of immaturity, I don’t think they get it — and it’s too late when they do,” Lt. William McGrath told FOX 25.

School administrators hope this will help young people understand the weight of social media.

“We want kids to be safe and to learn those skills, to learn what’s appropriate and what’s not appropriate. And if they see something that’s not appropriate, to go to the proper authorities because it is concerning,” School Superintendent Zielinski told FOX.

The article states that there will be no charges filed for publicity reasons.
