Climbing into bed with her parents when she couldn’t sleep as a kid, Kristina Ross always had late-night talk-show host Conan O’Brien for company long after her folks fell asleep.
“I used to have a lot of trouble sleeping,” Ross said. “I was like, ‘[Conan’s] still awake, he understands.’ Now I understand it doesn’t’ work that way.”
And even though she doesn’t know of another mega fan who’s appeared on the show, the 25-year-old recently launched a Facebook campaign to achieve her lifelong goal of being O’Brien’s guest.
“I’m sort of figuring it out as I go,” said Ross, who works for a Quincy insurance company. “I’ve never done anything like this before.”
The day before O’Brien launched his new show on TBS in November, Ross was sitting around with friends when she casually hatched the idea. Her friends encouraged her to create a T-shirt and pass out flyers. Her Facebook page has more than 300 “likes” and she plans to reach out to O’Brien’s producers once she reaches 500.
“My family makes fun of me a little bit,” she said. “My friends … just know me as the girl who likes Conan.”
O’Brien’s reps could not be reached for comment.
