Last year, siblings Greg and Theresa Decker used a family recipe to clean up at the Fishtown Chili Cookoff. This year, they kept the "Double Decker" name, but went with an Asian flavor.
"We told our mom about our idea and she said, 'sounds good to me,'" Greg said.
The two won the people's and critic's choice for best amateur's chili in the third annual Fishtown Neighborhood Association cook off.
Hundreds tasted the recipes of 15 Fishtown residents and 10 restaurants. As the eaters moved from table to table, they voted for the best professional and amateur's chili as judge's chose theirs.
The people's choice for best restaurant chili was Bubba's Texas BBQ. Critics choice for best restaurant was Sketch Burger.
Jill Betters, who runs the event, said voting closes when the chili's gone.
"After a couple of years doing this, it's less science, more art," she said.
