A 20-year-old Boston college student out for a run on Sunday afternoon was hit and killed by a car, authorities said.

On Monday, Sharon Police said they had probable cause to issue a criminal citation and charged the driver of the car that hit the woman.

Jeffrey Bickoff, 44, of Sharon, was charged with motor vehicle homicide/negligent operation, driving with a suspended license (subsequent offense), marked lanes violation and speeding, according to Sharon Police.

The crash occurred just before 4:30 p.m.on Hampton Road in Sharon near the intersection with Dogwood Road, according to the Norfolk district attorney’s office.

“Initial investigation indicates that the 20-year-old young woman may have been out for a run in the late afternoon,” the district attorney’s office said.

Authorities have so far not charged the driver of the Ford Explorer that hit the woman. Family members were with her after she was taken to Norwood Hospital, the district attorney’s office said.

The victim was identified as Haley Cremer, according to WCVB. She was going to be a junior at Simmons College and was a 2012 graduate of Sharon High School, according to her Facebook profile.

The crash is being investigated.
