A skeletal foot that washed up in Ocean City this summer has been identified as belonging to missing Philadelphia woman Franchesca Alvarado, according to family members.
"It is with deep sadness, pain and heartache that we inform you — TEAMCHEKA the loss of our Beloved Sister Franchesca Milagros Alvarado," a post on the Facebook page Find Franchesca 'Cheka' Alvarado read.
"It has been confirmed from the state of New Jersey that the DNA match Is our Sister. We ask that you Please keep us in your prayers as we grieve, but also thank God for our answer regardless of the circumstance."
Alvarado went missing March 13, 2012, after leaving her Hunting Park apartment for a trip to Atlantic City. She never returned.
Alvarado, who was 22 years old at the time of her disappearance, left behind a young daughter.
