Skip the hike, take a bike: ‘Bike Friday’ to celebrate city’s cycle community

The organization Boston Bikes will hold its third and final “Bike Friday” of the summer tomorrow by hosting a party for cyclists at City Hall Plaza.

Around 6:45 a.m., early-rising cyclists will be able to join a bike commuter convoy from one of dozens of locations throughout the Hub. The convoys will be led by “experienced bike leaders” and will follow a fixed schedule and route before finishing together at City Hall Plaza at 8:30 a.m.

Organizers promoted the event on BostonBikes.org, saying “Because you rode your bike, you’ll get a free breakfast and coffee courtesy of Boloco, set to music amid an expo at (the plaza).”

To mark the occasion, Hubway, the city’s growing bicycle sharing program, will also hand out “day passes” at Charles Circle.
