A big winter storm is expected to hit our area on Tuesday afternoon and before it's over, up to eight inches of snow is expected to fall, according to meteorologists with the National Weather Service in Mount Holly.
Mitchell Gaines said snow will develop late in the morning and "increase intensity in late afternoon and evening" making for a messy commute home. Temperatures will only reach the mid-20s, he said, and slick snow and ice spots are expected to form on the roadways.
Winds will increase to around 20 miles per hour late Tuesday night into Wednesday. On Wednesday morning, wild chills are slated to be at or below zero.
