Somerville officials will this week interview four groups of developers that hope to build a boutique hotel near Davis Square.

Four developers have proposed varying projects, but all of the proposals feature boutique-style hotels that range between 80 and 126 rooms. Some of the proposals include restaurant and retail space on the ground floor while others envision open space with public art and benches and even an art gallery.

The varying proposals and information about the hotel project can be viewed here.

The hotel would be located on a parcel of land at Day and Herbert streets that is currently a parking lot. The developers have proposed varying purchase prices for the lot that range from $1 million to more than $2 million.

The proposals also include plans for parking and one includes and underground parking area with room for 60 spaces.

Somerville officials have been working on the possibility of locating a hotel in the Davis Square area since 2006. However, the process slowed about four years ago when the recession hit and building was impacted.

However the process has since begun again with proposals for the hotel being submitted last month.

The Davis Square Hotel Technical Advisory Committee is scheduled to interview the developers during a meeting Friday.

Depending on when a developer is picked and construction can start, the opening dates for the hotel could be in 2015 or 2016, according to the proposals.
