Spirit Airlines first flight was delayed.
Spirit spokeswoman Misty Pinson said they did not receive FAA authorization to fly from Dallas-Fort Worth to Philadelphia International Airport.
"The Philadelphia authorization has taken longer than expected," she said in an email. "We are actively working with the FAA to secure the necessary authorization as quickly as possible."
The inaugural flight was slated to land Thursday morning, welcomed by Mayor Michael Nutter. Passengers instead landed in Atlantic City.
