State’s jobless rate decreases

The state’s unemployment rate fell to 8.8 percent after 2,100 jobs were added in August, according to the state Office of Labor and Workforce Develop­ment. It was the seventh consecutive month of job gains, according to the numbers released Thursday. The unemployment rate fell from 9 percent.
