Police are searching for a suspect wanted in a connection with a bias assault against a Hispanic man on the 7 train on Sunday.

The victim, 43, told police that the suspect approached him on the train around 4 p.m. and punched him several times while making anti-Mexican statements.

The attack stopped when another passenger, identified as Erik Baard, intervened. The suspect fled when the train reached the Court Square subway station.

The victim sustained bruises to the nose and lacerations to his lip. His attacker is described as a six-foot tall black male weighing about 165 pounds.

The NYPD hate crimes task force is investigating the attack.
