Authorities have two suspects in custody in the fatal shooting of 1-year-old Antiq Hennis in Brownsville last weekend, an NYPD official said.
The official said Daquan Wright, 19, and Daquan Breland, 23, were tracked down in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
One of the suspects is believed to be the shooter, the official said.
The shooting occurred last Sunday in Brownsville. Police believed the shooter was aiming at Antiq's father, Anthony.
Anthony had just picked up him up from the child's mother's house and was taking him to visit his great-grandmother. He was pushing Antiq in a stroller across Livonia Avenue when a gunman fired four shots in their direction, striking Antiq once in the left side of his head.
Four bullet holes were left in the 1-year-old's stroller, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said last week.
Kelly had said last week that Anthony Hennis was refusing to cooperate with police in the investigation. Police believed the shooting may have been gang-related, and community leaders said they knew of an old "beef" between Anthony and the brother of a person they suspected to be the shooter.
