Hometown heroes the Taney Dragons lost to the Mountain Ridge team out of Las Vegas, Nevada Wednesday night, in their third Little League World Series game, but they have not been eliminated yet.
The Dragons lost 8-1 to Vegas. Star pitcher Mo'Ne Davis, 13, gave up three runs to Vegas by the third inning before she was taken off the mound with a score of 3-0.
The Dragons got one run when Mo'Ne got a walk to first base, sending a teammate on third base home, but Vegas came right back with another five runs to secure their victory.
The Dragons will play again tonight against the little league team out of Chicago.
If they win this game, and manage to win Saturday's title game against the Vegas Mountain Ridge, they will still go to the Little League World Series, which pits one U.S. team versus one national team.
Chicago's team from the Jackie Robinson West Little League previously lost to the Vegas team, 13-2 in four innings. The game was terminated early due to the Little League's 10 run mercy rule.
But Chicago managed to beat a team from Pearland, Texas on Tuesday, 6-1, placing them in position to take on whoever lost the Philly/Vegas game.
The winner of Philly/Chicago will get the privilege of fighting the team from Vegas one more time.
