Tastykake will officially "Kake over" Philadelphia on Feb. 25.
The iconic snack food maker, which celebrates its 100th birthday on Feb. 25, announced Thursday it's “Kaking Over” its hometown on its centennial.
To commemorate the anniversary, the company will mark the anniversary with 100 deliveries of their signature treats to first responders and charities around the city. The city will also declare Feb. 25 "Tastykake Day" in Philadelphia, according to a news release.
Tastykake will also announce a new limited edition "Birthday Kake" cupcake at its ceremony, which will be held at the Naval Yard, 4300 South 26th Street, around 1:30 p.m.
The company, which started in 1914, is known for its lines of snack foods sold in supermarkets and shops throughout the East, Southeast and Southwest.
In 2011, Thomasville, Ga.-based Flowers Foods Inc. bought the Tasty Baking Co. in a $34.4 million cash deal. Tasty Baking claimed financial difficulties forced the sale of the iconic Philly brand.
